I am a Visiting Lecturer in the Department of Political Science at the University of Pittsburgh. I hold a Ph.D. from the University of Pittsburgh in Political Science and completed my degree in December 2019.

My specializations are international relations, comparative politics, and political methodology with research focuses on peace, conflict resolution, civil wars, the role of external interventions, foreign policy, terrorism, conflict termination, temporal interdependence, bargaining theory, and democratization.

My dissertation is investigating the role of external interventions in ending internal wars. The chapter on interdependence was recognized as the Best Paper at the 2017 PPSA Conference.

My work has been published in the International Interactions Journal, and I have a paper under review at the Conflict Management and Peace Science Journal.

I have taught courses on International Relations, Comparative Politics, Civil Wars, Peacekeeping/Peacemaking, Foreign Policy Analysis, Human Security, International Terrorism, and US Foreign Policy at the University of Pittsburgh. In 2019, the university honored me by giving its Elizabeth Baranger Excellence in Teaching Award.

I graduated summa cum laude in Turkey with a Bachelor of Science degree in Systems and Industrial Engineering. I hold three Master of Arts degrees, in Strategic Management, Security Studies, and International Relations, respectively from universities in Turkey and the United States. Prior to coming to Pitt, as a Turkish state official, I worked on various areas of governance, including counterterrorism, management, leadership, and strategic planning.

Currently, I live in Pittsburgh with my wife and two kids.
